This will be where I'll put my ideas about my trailer's title, 'Additional Finance'. I'll use different fonts, styles and colours to try to get the best possible title style for the trailer.
I have a few ideas for a film trailer, some of these are:
Idea 1 Four friends are on a trip to Scotland, but their car breaks down while they're in the middle of nowhere, as it's dark and they're walking around the woods, they encounter a man, who turns out to be a serial killer. To escape they have to find a map and then flee to the closest settlement.
Idea 2 A man is highly stressed and throws a violent rampage at his workplace, not surprising he gets the sack and has to find another source of income, however, it involves theft.
Idea 3 Dave, a man in serious financial debt and going into a deep state of depression struggles to cope with everything piling on him. He doesn’t want to talk with anyone and stays indoors as much as possible. He must concentrate and get back on his feet before it’s too late.
Idea 4 As part of a drunken bet, a man has to create a song that will reach number 1, and start his career in music. The man is sucessful but the money and power go to his head, then things come crashing down for him.
The plot of the trailer is this: Dave, a man in serious financial debt and going into a deep state of depression struggles to cope with everything piling on him. He doesn’t want to talk with anyone and stays indoors as much as possible. He must concentrate and get back on his feet before it’s too late.
These are some of the key elements of my trailer, which are: -The title I have chosen for the film (trailer) is 'Additional Finance' -The tagline will be a famous quote ‘The best and first victory is to conquer self’ - Plato -The director will be called 'Evan Williams'.-Previous film by the director will be 'One way out’
This is my analysis of some DVD covers for my A2 Medis research.
The Colour 'silver' is used alot here; after doing some research I found out that silver can be used to represent things being industrial, steel and high tech, and looking at the background on the front you can see that he is in a city therefore the DVD Cover looks as if it links greatly with the city. The man is carrying a gun and with him wearing a black suit and the film supposedly being about the city, this could link to the mafia. Also his facial expression being serious suggests he is out to get a job done, which also links to the mafia more. The woman on the back is wearing quite upper class clothes at the time, this also suggests that they are quite wealthy which also links to the mafia. Even the title of the film could relate to the mafia, as crime is done against the public, the title 'Public Enemies' makes sense.
I would suggest that with the features mentioned that this film's genre is action.
I like the design used on the back page however I would not like to use so much text, because I think alot of people would be turned off by it.
The first thing that anybody sees is the man and the woman holding eachother, the way they are holding eachother looks as if the man is protecting the woman, and in general, these two suggest that film is about romance. The man is wearing black which can relate to evil but also protection, and the woman is wearing red which links to danger, which again sets the picture that he is protecting her. The woman wearing red also suggests lust, and with her clutching tightly onto the man and the look at the camera suggests she is saying 'he's mine'. Everyone except the woman in red is wearing black, this suggests that perhaps she does not belong with this group of people. Gender can again be brought into the situation because gold can relate to the macsuline power, so this could say that men are in power in the film. With a wolf on the back cover and 'moon' being part of the title, it suggests that there will be werewolves in the movie and also the man and woman have their eyes shut, which suggests they don't want to see the wolf, perhaps because they won't it bother them or affect their relationship.
With this information I would say that the film must be a romantic thriller.
I like the front page design
Black is used alot in this DVD cover, possibly because black links to death and evil. This also links to the image on the back page, as you can see some kind of giant bird or something pulling the man out of a building through the window. The red title could also link to danger. The title being in all capitals could suggest that it's trying to stand out, almost shout 'Max Payne' at the audience to get their attention. The front cover image suggest alot about the character; with him looking down it suggests he wants to keep himself to himself and is probably quite a lonely character, or he could be doing this because he doesn't want anybody else to get hurt, him being on his own also suggests this. Also the two shotguns in his hands suggest he is quite a violent character, or could be linked to his work. Another thing is that it is snowing, and it makes him look like quite a cold character and maybe merciless.
The first thing that stands out is the image on the front; it is a very well known scene in the King Kong movies, where he makes his final stand on top of the Empire State Building against a handful of planes. The image makes him appear like the well known King Kong, not afraid of anything as he is so high up he mustn't be. The image also makes him look quite violent as he smashes a plane with his fist. The title being in blue, which is a soothing and relaxing/peaceful colour suggests maybe it is not him who is causing the fighting, but only defending himself, but of course since so many people know the King Kong movies already, they know this. With the title being in all capitals, this could be to make 'King Kong' stand out as the movie is about him, almost shouting it at the audience.
The image on the front is when one side of the city is curled above, it is seen in the trailer.
How does the trailer make you feel? How does this reflect the genre of the film? I think it makes me feel excited, which is good as it is an action and is supposed to. I would say the soundtrack plays an important part in this, as it is fast paced keeping the trailer exciting.
What is the film about? The film is about Robin Hood, though a myth, still known as being a highly skilled archer and swordsman, and 'stealing from the rich, and giving to the poor'. In this movie he is leading a rebellion against King John, who is a bloodthirsty tyrant who oppresses the poor.
What is the trailer doing to encourage you to go to the cinema? It is creating suspense with the way it uses battle scenes. One way of how it creates suspence is when King John is with the leader of his army and he says to him 'As many men as you need'.
Which actors are present and how does this reflect the genre of the film? Russell Crowe is present. He has appeared in previous action films such as Gladiator and so he has an audience of his own. The audience know if he is present then it must be an action film.
Montage in the trailer. Are the clips short and quick or long and slow? How does this make you feel? There are many short shots but they happen more rapidly towards the end of the film. For me it creates suspense and makes me want to go watch the film.
What emotions does the music evoke? The music creates/adds tension and fits to the genre.
What taglines or catchphrases are present? -Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions. -On may 14th, comes the untold story, of how the man, became the legend.
There are features in this trailer that inspire me in the production of my trailer.
One of these features is 36 seconds in, where we see "From Riddley Scott", this is because it introduces the director and it does a good job of it. I also like it 5 seconds later where it says "Director of Gladiator" because it tells the audience the previous work of the director and has a good effect as it was a good film. I also like how it introduces it's award winning actors, I will also do this because it can attract an audience.
Shifty Trailer
How does the trailer make you feel? How does this reflect the genre of the film? The trailer creates suspence and tension for me and this reflects the genre of a film because that's what a thriller is supposed to do in order to make the audience want to see the film.
What is the film about? The film is about when an old friend visits another old friend and finds out that he is a drug dealer; things are ok until towards the end when the drug dealer's life is in danger and the audience see what it is like when things don't start going well in theworld of drugs.
What is the trailer doing to encourage you to go to the cinema? The trailer encourages the audience to see the film by creating tension when they see that the drug dealer saying he will be in danger, making the audience wanttoknow what will happen next. Also the use of quick clips create tension amngst the audience.

Montage in the trailer. Are the clips short and quick or long and slow? How does this make you feel?
What emotions does the music evoke?
What taglines or catchphrases are present?
One thing that I like in this trailer is the "Coming Soon" bit that comes at the end. Another thing Ilike is the positive quotes from different companies later on; this lets the audience know that others think the film is good and so should encourage them to go and watch it.

I like certain features in this. One thing is how it creates tension. At the end when we got the bad guy shouting "You don't think I'll do it!", this is good as the audience is thinking, do what?

I will also use the way it uses a soundbridge at the beginning to quickly link to the scenes. I like how it edits the trailer to the sound well, when you hear the thump sound it, it's also good as this happens more later on when there's some tension. Sometime I really like about the trailer is how it targets it's audience well, it's viewers tend to be women. It targets it's audience well in the way you see men with "six-packs" and the film is generally about love, with a bit of drama with there being two men after the woman.

This trailer uses sound quite well to create the suspence, like when there's a loud noise when it went from shot to shot near the end.
My name is Chris Pass I am studying A2 Media studies at Biddulph High School
I am planning to do a film trailer for my advanced portfolio which will be a thriller.
In a thriller there are often questions unanswered which motivate people to go to watch it and also people expect thrillers to be exciting.
Another idea I have would be to make a trailer using one of my computer games, Mount and Blade: Warband. I could record using internet programs and this opens up a genre to me which would be difficult in real life, action, but in medieval times. I am confident that it would be alot easier to get actors and actresses this way instead of doing it in real life, because I have done things like this in the past and you generally get alot more people willing to help.
